Islands are places apart, geographically and philosophically separate
from all other places. They seem to be enwrapped within their own laws
and sense of time. One look at an island across a stretch of water and
most people feel the desire to land there. Islands seem to offer
something missing from the mainland, something people might be
seeking: a brief escape from the routine and artifices of mainland life, an
engagement with the simple but immutable natural laws of an island and
the possibility of encountering something called "adventure."
